Janet Ronacher began making baskets using natural materials twenty five years ago. Her background has been as a painter and potter prior to settling on basketry techniques. Currently her work incorporates brightly colored yarns, silks, leathers, synthetic ropes, wire and beads. Janet's work is primarily non-functional and sculptural with increasing figurative elements. Traditional weaving techniques combine with fused silk, felting, embroidery and painting to evoke humor, dreamlike visions and expressions of a particular time and place.
