Cedar Pulling in Oregon City

$10.00

Sunday, May 15, 9am-2:30pm, Oregon City, Oregon.

Exact location will be provided to those who register for this gathering. Members only.

We have a special opportunity to pull cedar bark from standing trees in a privately owned forest in Oregon City. The trees vary in size; they have been damaged by storms. Our host has delayed harvesting the wood so that we can experience pulling cedar bark as Native Americans of the Pacific NW have done for thousands of years. The Western red cedar is the Tree of Life that offered a wealth of material for daily needs, from diapers to baskets and clothing. It continues to give to us today.

Our host will be accompanying us this day and asks that the number of people be no more than 12. This is an exciting opportunity. I look forward to seeing you there and suggest that you bring a gift or a sample of your cedar bark weaving for our host who has thought ahead to give us this opportunity.

Waiting List

When this offering is sold out, we will take names until May 12 for a wait list. To add your name, email ColumbiaBasinBasketryGuild@gmail.com with CEDAR as the subject and include your contact information. Also, we are working on a second opportunity later in May at a different location; watch for more information.
