Cherry Bark Gathering in North Plains
Cherry Bark Gathering in North Plains
Date and time: Thursday, June 6, 2024. 11am to 3pm PDT
Location: North Plains, Oregon
Cost: $10, non-refundable
Maximum number of gatherers: 3
Description: We will be gathering the bark of Prunus emarginata (common names: bitter cherry, wild cherry, quinine cherry). It is native to Oregon. The trees are located on private land; if possible, bring a small thank you gift for our host.
Registrants will be emailed a more precise location of the gathering, closer to the gathering date. You will look for signs when making your way there - it’s way off the road. We will walk a short distance. We can also gather a small amount of Maple.
Tools needed: Sharp knife and gardening clippers. Bring clips, clothes pins to keep the barks flat.
Clothing: The area is in a forested area, so wear shoes or boots. It may be cooler. Dress for the weather. Bring drinking water. No bathroom facilities.
We request that all registrants for this gathering be Guild members. If you are not a Guild member, but would like to become one, click here.
Please note: The Guild has organized two cherry bark gatherings this June. Please only sign up for one of the two gatherings, as spots are very limited.
