This is an online, 3-session workshop for all skill levels.

Description: Add to your tool bag. Learn a new technique.  Use up waxed linen scraps.

In this class we will cover your choice of a mini spray bottle (4 available) or the handle of a mini awl using a combination of lark’s head knots and half hitches. This technique produces a beautiful spiral pattern but can be manipulated to make almost any pattern.  Project will not be finished in class but all techniques will be demonstrated and instructions will be provided.

Location: Online. Registrants will receive Zoom information.

Number of students: 12

Skill level: All. Beginners welcome.

Cost: $55/$40 ($30 Guild fee plus $25 for base bottle or awl, 7-ply cord for coiling, instructions, and shipping, or $10 if you use your own waxed linen) 

Please have on hand: small sharp scissors, sharp pointed tweezers. Small packing tool. Optional but recommend: a firm pillow to work on (throw pillow), work light, reading glasses or magnifiers.  The knots are small!

Registration is open only to CBBG members. You may cancel your registration and be refunded by June 22.  Cancellations after Tuesday, June 22, are non-refundable.

*We will use the DIY camera stand for demonstration, questions, and problem solving*

We ask participants to use their smartphone as a camera on their work, using a DIY camera stand. Find detailed instructions here. For the camera stand you will need:

  • A smartphone

  • Two tall full bottles (wine, Martinelli bottles, 2-liter pop, etc.)

  • Yard stick or another similar flat piece

  • Tape to hold the yard stick on top of the bottles

  • Rubber bands to hold the phone

A work light helps to get light on your weaving while under the camera.
