For intermediate weavers who are CBBG members

Class Description: Students will learn to weave this charming oval double-walled willow bark basket, measuring 6.75” L x 5” W x 2”H. Some experience plaiting or with other weaving techniques is desirable but not absolutely necessary. Class will be taught via live teacher demonstrations, photo sharing, and will finish with a video on completing the border. Instructions and a link to the YouTube video border demonstration is included. If you took Carol's October 4th Monday class and would like to weave something similar with a different border, shape, size, and overall appearance, this basket is for you. If you'd like to try weaving with willow bark and have never done so, this basket is also for you. The basket can also be duplicated on your own with Western red cedar bark, birch bark, paper, and likely other materials. DIY camera stand setup is required for teacher feedback but isn't an absolute necessity to take the class.

This class is for members only. Register by January 8 so that we can mail your class materials to you before class.

Supplies needed:

• Large bowl/pan of water or spray water bottle

• 8 micro clips (available from CBBG or basketry supplier)

• Old towel

• Ruler

• Small awl with flattish tip

• Scissors with small pointed tip

We will use the DIY camera stand for demonstration, questions and problem solving. For the camera stand* you will need:

• Two tall bottles full (wine, Martinellies, 2 liter pop)

• Yard stick or other similar flat piece

• Tape to hold the yard stick on top of the bottles

• Rubber bands to hold the phone

• A work light helps to get light on your weaving while under the camera.
