Willow Bark Harvest
Willow Bark Harvest
Gather willow bark at the Our Table willow plot. Members only, please (if you are not a member but would like to become one, click here).
We have this awesome opportunity to collect bark from the CBBG willow plot. Carol Horvath will first cut the willow branches and then we will peel the willow bark from them. We will demo peeling bark, but if you would like a preview of the process, check out this video, linked here. (To learn more about the Guild’s willow plot, click here.)
Cost: $10 (non-refundable). Last day to register is June 8.
Date and time: Saturday, June 10, 2023. 10 am - 1pm PDT.
Location: Our Table Cooperative Farm, 13390 SW Morgan Rd, Sherwood, OR 97140. Please meet at the fenced willow plot. The entrance leads to the Our Table store where you turn right. Go past the hoop houses, composting area, and blueberries on your left. Then turn left into the first small parking area, which also is on your left in front of the red/white office building that adjoins the fenced willow.
Tools needed: Chair, sharp knife, garden clippers/pruners, string for tying willow bark bundles
Clothing: Comfortable clothing for that day’s forecast. Hat, sunscreen, kneeling pad if you wish (unless you will be standing and using one of our portable tables to peek your bark).
