Marilyn Parr is a basket designer and weaver, and an entrepreneur in Michigan. She has taught at conventions and retreats across the country. Her love of basketry is manifest in her many unique patterns. Her imagination runs wild with the holidays and shows with her kits and patterns. The quality of Marilyn's products are truly amazing, not to mention her witty personality.
She incorporates all different types of materials such as metals, copper, felt, and leather. How does she come up with such wonderful ideas?? Here it from her.
From Marilyn: I started weaving over 40 years ago, making my first basket at a Community Education class. From that first class, the addiction began. I signed up for more classes and started attending conventions in Michigan through the Association of Michigan Basketmakers.
About 8 years ago, some basket weaving friends suggested that I should try my hand at teaching. They invited me to their guild to teach a couple of my designs and that is how my love for designing began! I also have had the wonderful opportunity to work with a couple of Amish gentlemen that help me put my ideas into reality.
