Our Table Willow Volunteer & Apprentice Training Events

  • Our Table Cooperative 13390 Southwest Morgan Road Sherwood, OR, 97140 United States (map)

Spring has arrived and the willows are growing! Both apprentices and members are invited to assist with plot maintenance. This is your opportunity to learn about growing your own weaving materials and get to know fellow CBBG members in a beautiful setting. Everyone learns but apprentices do so with the goal of leading future volunteer events.

Saturday April 30

Tuesday May 10

Saturday May 14

Thursday May 19

The following is a recap of the willow credit system.

Willow helpers

Receive WILLOW BUCKS at the rate of $5/volunteer hour for time spent working at the Our Table willow plot.  WILLOW BUCKS can be used as a credit toward guild willow class material fees where guild/OTC willow is used or use WILLOW BUCKS toward purchase of same willow.

Willow grower/ harvester apprentices

These individuals will be trained in how to grow and harvest willow with the expectation that eventually they will lead willow work events at the OT Cooperative willow plot.

Willow harvest helpers

Keep half of the willow they harvest and the guild gets the remainder.  Alternatively, if one prefers, they may receive same incentive as for Willow helpers but not both.

Willow leads and co-leads (who have completed apprenticeship training)

Those who lead or co-lead willow work events ~20 hours per season (December-November) would receive up to 2 willow class fees paid in full. (Note: Can be two 2-day classes.)
