Description: “It took 65 years of making to figure out what I wanted to say and through what media. I intertwined my love of glass and fiber, and chose vessels and basketry as my voice to highlight global issues of equality and sustainability.”
Candace Pratt began a second career in architectural glass in 2000, after 25 years in new product marketing. In 2015 she decided to explore her own work and was selected for a prestigious Pilchuck Glass School residency. From that opportunity, she has slowly woven a story through her contemporary basketry sculptures.
Candace is from the Southern Illinois region of the Shawnee. She says, “My great grandma was Shawnee, and we lived in the ‘mounds’ region at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. Our two neighboring towns were Mounds and Mound City, Illinois. I grew up in Olmsted, Illinois. Our farm was on the Ohio River and is a site of countless ancestral artifacts.”
The schedule for the general meeting is as follows: 6:30pm - Set up, social time, treasure table and sales, library. 7:00pm - Business meeting, show and tell, program.
