Description: Gather broadleaf cattail (Typha latifolia) with the Guild this August. We will practice sustainable harvesting, leaving No Trace Behind; remember, this is private land. Beavers live on one side of the pond, which we will not disturb. Also note: at this site there are yellow jacket wasps galore. No dogs allowed.
Tools to bring:
*Sharp large knife and/or loppers. The Guild has a few extra.
*Sheet, shower curtain, or tarp approximately 6 ft in length, to put underneath your harvested cattails.
*Broom stick or rod to keep the cattails straight.
*Ties or rope.
*Drinking water /and or snack.
*Shoes or boots for the mud. This is a pond.
*Change of shoes and socks, if needed.
This gathering event is for members only (if you are not a Guild member, but would like to become one, click here).
