About the program
Visiting Oregon from her home state of Iowa, Jo Campbell-Amsler is teaching some lucky Guild members three days of willow basketry
workshops July 20-22. Her evening presentation features baskets and their makers from Jo’s travels abroad.
Jo has been using willow in her basketry work for the past 37 years. It has been featured in magazines and books, and has been in exhibits across the United States, one of the most recent being “A Measure of the Earth” at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian in Washington, DC.
Teaching throughout the United States, she is also a co-organizer for several retreats – The Willow Gathering and Willow Weekend. She is a board
member of the National Basketry Organization and has worked with other board members to “grow the basket community.” In recent years, she has hosted several basket tours to Ireland, Scotland, Spain, France, Denmark, Wales, and England, visiting with willow basket weavers there
and learning new skills and techniques.
More information about Jo’s workshops, The Willow Gathering, and Basket Tours can be found on her website: http://www.willowridgebaskets.com
