About this class
This is a beginning basketry class that will give a basic understanding of the art of Native basketry. You will learn how to Z-twist twine. (Most Northwest Coast Native basketry is Z-twist). You'll also learn how to make the transition from the base to the sides of the basket using one of two 3-string twining techniques, and how to finish the edge using two of the 22 different endings.

Cost
Class Fee: $48
Materials fee options: Spruce root, sun bleached grass or maiden hair fern. Spruce root for 2 1/2" - 3" basket is $250. The cost of spruce root for other size baskets will depend on size. Students may use their own materials and may purchase root to supplement their own supply. Cedar bark may be substituted for spruce root.
What to bring
Metal needle, small scissors and paring knife, container for basketry material, small spray bottle, and small hand towel. Bring a lunch and beverage, if you like.
