This is an online, 3-session workshop for those who have never worked with round reed, also known as wicker.
Learn to weave with round reed. We will make an oval basket similar to an Easter basket using round and flat reed. We will cover questions such as How moist should my reed be? How do I get the shape I want? What's the best size material for my weaving? How do I use a combination of round and flat reed? Techniques include a split spoke base, upsetting, 4-rod coil, 3-rod wale, a rolled rim, and a twisted handle. Your finished basket will measure approximately 10"H (including handle) x 8"W x 10"L.
Registration is open to all with preference given to CBBG members. You may cancel your registration and be refunded by March 29. Cancellations after March 29 are non-refundable.
Dates and times (Pacific): Saturdays: April 10, 10 am-1pm (3 hours), April 17, 10 am-noon (2 hours) and April 24, 10 am-noon (2 hours).
Location: Online. Registrants will receive Zoom information.

Skill level: Beginners welcome.
Cost: $35 ($14 Guild fee plus $21 for materials and shipping).
Please have on hand: Bowl or tub with water; hand towel; ruler or tape measure; pruning cutters or clippers; paring knife and crochet hook or knitting needle, or awl; small cutting board; a few clothes pins; round-nosed or needle-nosed pliers; a paper towel; three plastic (not paper) twist ties.
*We will use the DIY camera stand for demonstration, questions, and problem solving*
We ask participants to use their smartphone as a camera on their work, using a DIY camera stand. Full directions are online where you register. For the camera stand you will need:
A smartphone
Two tall bottles full (wine, Martinelli bottles, 2-liter pop, etc.)
Yard stick or another similar flat piece
Tape to hold the yard stick on top of the bottles
Rubber bands to hold the phone
A work light helps to get light on your weaving while under the camera.
The last day to register is Monday, March 29. No refunds after registration closes.
