CBBG is honored to host Tisa Matheson, American Indian Collection Curator at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (aka the MAC), located in Spokane, WA. The MAC was founded in 1916 and describes itself as the largest cultural organization in the inland Northwest.

Tisa has worked at the MAC since 2001 and has curated the American Indian Collection since 2014, managing objects and records, developing exhibits, policies, and furthering efforts to decolonize preservation institution practices.

She works to care for one of the largest Plateau collections west of the Mississippi, building social and cultural context and community into her work.

Tisa is a member of the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) Tribe and works closely with area Tribes on consent, ethics, protocol, and human relationships in considering how people relate to their objects and art.
