March Zoom-in – 9 Classes in 5 Days!

On Day 4, March 17, we will have 2 class offerings. Students will be able to create a Hexagonal Plaited One-Handle Basket with Barbara Shapiro, or, a Cedar Amulet Pouch with Jennifer Wool. NOTE: Select only 1 of these 2 classes. You cannot take both. Members only. See class listings below:

Hexagonal Plaited One-Handle Basket with Barbara Shapiro

Date & Time: Friday, March 17, 9am – 6pm PDT

About the Instructor

Create a flat hex base, learn the trick to bring up the sides and weave with multiple weavers. Add an easy rim with a single handle. Embellish as you like. Your creation can be over-woven in more cane or materials of your choice creating an attractive useful object. We will discuss how to change directions in hex plaiting to make even more interesting shapes. Dyed cane, clips, and instructions supplied. Your project will be 6" x 6" x 6"

Tools needed: Spray bottle, bucket for soaking before and as you work; WeaveRite, awl or flat screw driver; towel; measuring tape; clippers or scissors for cane; spoke weight or other weight

Cedar Amulet Pouch with Jennifer Wool

About the Instructor

Students will learn weaving with cedar. Twining and triple twining with a reverse arrow using waxed linen, a flip and fold rim, and finish with a leather cord. Your project will be 2.75"h x 2"w x 1"d

Tools needed: Basketry shears, small packing tool, embroidery needle, several small clips, painter's tape, container for soaking *We strongly encourage you to have a second camera over your workspace for demonstration, questions, and problem solving. You can use the DIY camera stand*
