August’s 4th Monday Mini Class: Twisting and Coiling Plastic Film into Useful Objects

Participants will learn (or hone) cord-making skills and start a cord-coiled object. For instance, everyone will likely complete a drinking glass-sized coiled coaster. Individuals can choose from several different basket designs.

Registration is open to CBBG members You may cancel your registration and be refunded by August 9. Cancellations after August 9 are non-refundable.

Number of students: 12

Cost: $21 (Guild fee- $6; material and shipping fee- $15) Materials include: Plastic filament (light plastic produce bags and plastic newspaper bags), fishing line and a handmade chair rig to keep your cording consistent.

Supplies needed: Tapestry needle (about a size 12), a thimble if you usually need one and a chair to hang the cording bar from

*We will use the DIY camera stand for demonstration, questions, and problem solving*

We ask participants to use their smartphone as a camera on their work, using a DIY camera stand. Full directions here.

For the camera stand you will need:

  • A smartphone

  • Two tall bottles full (wine, Martinelli bottles, 2 liter pop, etc.)

  • Yard stick or other similar flat piece

  • Tape to hold the yard stick on top of the bottles

  • Rubber bands to hold the phone

A work light helps to get light on your weaving while under the camera.
