April’s 4th Monday Mini Class: Small Leaf-Shaped Willow Vessel
$26.00

Date and time: Monday, April 24, 2023; 6:30 - 9:30 pm PDT

Location: Multnomah Arts Center, Room 7 (7688 SW Capitol Hwy, Portland, OR)

Cost: $26, plus an in-person materials fee of $15. (You will pay your $15 materials fee at the time of class using a check, cash, or “willow bucks.”)

Instructor: Carol Horvath

Number of students: 12

Materials included: Pre-made leaf-shaped frame and prepared (dried then soaked and mellowed) willow

Supplies needed: pruners, bodkin or large awl, and willow rolling or winding tool (a round piece of wood or 14 oz can work well. Instructor has several to share)

A larger version of this basket is found in Jenny Crisp’s willow book, and credit goes to her for this design. However, each vessel will be a little different depending on the frame shape, size and the willow colors you select.

A variety of willow colors will be provided from the Guild’s Our Table willow plot. Instructor will provide the leaf-shaped frame. You’ll learn willow handling and basic ribbed-style basketry techniques. This is a small vessel, so you’ll have time to make it once or twice on the same frame to practice your willow handling techniques.

Registration is open to CBBG members only and will be done online (click “Add to Cart” below). You may cancel your registration and be refunded by April 10. Cancellations after April 10 are non-refundable.
